Thank you for visiting the Santa Elena Foundation’s website ( (“SEF Site”) and viewing Santa Elena Foundation (the “Foundation”) privacy policy notice (“Notice”).  This privacy policy notice is incorporated into and part of the Terms of Use of the SEF Site.

This Notice describes the privacy practices followed by the Foundation  for the personally identifiable information that it collects, uses and discloses through use of our products and services, either offline or online.  This Notice further explains how you can correct or change any personally identifiable information held about you, or how you can opt-out of receiving certain marketing materials.

By disclosing your personally identifiable information to the Foundation, you are consenting to the Foundation’s use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information as set forth in this Notice.  If you do not consent to the Foundation’s use, please do not provide your personally identifiable information, either offline or online through the SEF Site.

We collect no personally identifying information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us.  The information that the Foundation collect depends on what you do when visiting the SEF Site.


Any time you visit the SEF Site, browse and/or download information, the Foundation may automatically collect and store the following non-personally identifiable information about your visit.  This information is stored and used in the aggregate and is not used to contact you personally.

  • The IP address from which you access the SEF Site.
  • The name of the domain from which you access the Internet.
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access the SEF Site.
  • The date and time that you visit.
  • The pages, files, documents and links that you visit while browsing the SEF Site.
  • The Internet address of the website from which you linked to this website.


The SEF Site will only collect personal identification information that you knowingly and voluntarily provide to the Foundation, via for example, making donations, ordering merchandise from the Store, registering for Programs or an Event, responding to surveys, sending emails or that you give us in any other way.  We use the information that you provide in order to respond to your request, enhance your shopping experience, improve the Foundation’s Store and Event Programing, conduct surveys, and communicate with you regarding news, programs, and events relating to the Foundation’s mission.  The Foundation may partner with reputable third parties to manage the SEF Site, Store, Event promotions, process transactions and respond to needs of visitors and enhance its marketing efforts.  This includes third-party marketing partners who serve advertisements across the Internet and sometimes on the SEF Site on the Foundation’s behalf.

Moreover, when you make a donation, order merchandise from the Store, register for Programs or an Event, you will be asked to provide personal information necessary to process and service your on-line transaction, which may include your name, billing and shipping addresses, gift recipient name and address, telephone numbers of you and any gift recipient, email address(es), and credit card number and expiration date.  We use this information for billing and processing purposes for that transaction and/or respond to your request or inquiry as well as the uses described above.  To process any credit card and payment transactions, the Foundation has partnered with reputable third-party vendors to facilitate these orders and payments.  As such, sufficient personal identification information is shared to complete these transactions, fulfill orders, deliver packages, and send postal mail.  Credit card information is not maintained by the Foundation once an order is fulfilled.

The Foundation may on occasion share or exchange select names and address information with other charitable or cultural non-profit organizations.


In addition to information collected automatically or that you provide to use, the Foundation uses ‘cookies’ and ‘pixel tags’ to improve the experience of the SEF Site by the user and improve the functioning of the SEF Site.  Cookies are small data files automatically sent to your computer’s browsers by a website that you visit.  Cookies are used to track usage patterns, traffic trends and customer behavior as well as record information from the website visited.  Pixel tags are tiny graphical images or scripts embedded in emails and webpages and used to determine what parts of a website a visitor viewed and whether emails are opened.  When you register, donate or purchase merchandise, cookies allow the Foundation to save information so that you will not have to re-enter it the next time you visit the SEF Site.

The SEF Site may use third-party vendors, such as Google Analytics, Word Press,  and ETapestry   to place cookies and pixel tags and to analyze the information collected by cookies  and pixel tags to implement improvements to the SEF Site, enhance community outreach, provide on-line display advertising as well as to improve website navigation and to make the SEF Site more interesting and useful to you.  No personally identifiable information is collected via cookies.  Information that is collected from cookies will not be used to create profiles of individual users.  Such data will be used in aggregate form only and the Foundation may work with third party vendors for marketing purposes and to enhance the user experience.  The collected data is retained for as long as the Foundation determines necessary to support its mission.  You may use set your browser so that it does not accept cookies.  Most of the areas on the SEF Site will function without cookies.


The SEF Site does not respond to Web browser “do not track” signals at this time while the Foundation awaits the results of the policy community and industry to determine when such a response is appropriate and what form it should take.


If your computer supports the capability, the Foundation may receive email confirmations when you open an email from the Foundation.  This information enables the Foundation to better inform you about developments at the Foundation, keep you informed of new programs and events, and let you learn about promotions in the Foundation’s Store.

In cases where visitors leave the SEF Site to visit one of another website, visitors are encouraged to review the privacy statements of each website they visit.  Although every effort is made to ensure that the website links are reputable and relevant sources, the Foundation does not control the content of links that appear on these websites.  In addition, these websites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. The Foundation maintains a policy against the non-consensual collection or sharing of personal information

SOCIAL MEDIA FEATURES     The SEF Site may include social media features such as the Facebook “Like” and TripAdvisor ratings link.  Such features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on the SEF Site, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly.  Social media features are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on the SEF Site. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.


The Santa Elena Foundation makes every reasonable effort to ensure the security of transactions that occur on the SEF Site. To maintain data accuracy, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure correct use of the information, our registration and credit card processing is handled by third party provider(s) who use Secure Sockets Layer encryption.   By using this technology, online customers can feel confident that their personal information is protected.  Sensitive credit card information is not stored on our server, and though your order information is retained for our records, credit card information is not shared with other companies or persons except as needed to process your transaction.


The SEF Site is intended to be accessible and enjoyed by the general population.   The SEF Site sells children’s products for purchase by adults and children may be registered for programs by adults.  The Foundation does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age.  Children should always ask parents for permission before providing personal data to any web site or purchasing products or services online.  If you are under the age of thirteen, please do not provide any personal information of any kind whatsoever.


If you purchase an admission to a Program or Event, you may indicate the best way for the Foundation to communicate with you at the time of purchase.  We may also share your personal identification information with third-party service marketing partners to personalize your shopping experience on the SEF Website and other websites.  Please note that the Privacy Policy of other website may differ from the Foundation’s privacy policy.


When you purchase an admission to a Program or Event on-line, the Foundation may share the information that you provide such as your name and mailing addresses, with other reputable organizations and companies whose programs and services might interest you.  Please  review the Privacy Policies of these other organizations as they differ from the Foundation’s Privacy Policy.

Please be advised that when you place an order for admission or merchandise via the SEF Site, your order and payment are processed in the United States.  The SEF Site is designed to comply with laws in the United States and may not be compliant with Data Security laws in the European Union, Canada or other countries.  If your address is outside the United States and you continue to use the SEF Site, you are consenting to the Foundation’s use of your personal data consistent with this Privacy Policy statement.


The Foundation often asks for feedback and publishes surveys on the SEF Site or uses a third-party service provider.  Your participation in these surveys is on a voluntary and anonymous basis, unless otherwise specified.  We use the survey responses to improve our understanding of you, visitors, and to determine how better meet the needs to fulfill the Foundation’s mission.  Information collected in these surveys is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.


If you would prefer that the Foundation not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes or would like to be removed from the Foundation’s mailing list, not participate in surveys and/or withdraw your prior consent for the use and disclosure of your personal information, please contact the Foundation at the contact information provided below.  Please note that it takes time to process these request and you may continue to receive notices, promotions or newsletters scheduled prior to processing your request.


This Privacy Notice applies to all information that the Foundation collects or receives, on or after the effective date of this Privacy Notice, from individuals who provide it to the Foundation for purposes of obtaining products or services from the Foundation or using the SEF Site.

The Santa Elena Foundation reserves the rights, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions from this Privacy Notice.  If a material change is made to the way your personal information will be used, we will notify you by way of either prominent posting on the SEF Site, email and/or postal mail prior to the change becoming effective.  You are encouraged to review this privacy policy from time-to-time to be apprised of any changes.
