What should I bring on Saturday? Bring your receipt for pre-paid admissions via this website. Bring your chairs, camera, and enthusiasm! (Patron ticket holders and sponsors will have seating provided.) Also bring cash for food/drink and souvenir purchases, and a valid ID for alcohol purchases.
What is the Friday event? Students and teachers are invited to attend “History Day” from 10am-2pm at Cotton Hall Plantation as an educational field trip experience not open to the general public. Cost is $3/participant. Pre-registrations are encouraged by emailling email@example.com.
Where will I park? There is a field area dedicated to parking near the event activities. Entry will be from Cotton Hall Road. There is designated areas for RVs or large trucks.
What happens in the event of inclement weather? This is “shine-only” event and will only be held if weather permits. The race and all activities are outdoors. Ticket sales for this fundraiser are non-refundable and irrevocable whether or not the event occurs. The event will not be rescheduled. Carolina Marsh Tacky Association officials will make decisions on the race plans according to weather conditions.
How long is the event? The event begins at 11:00 am with multiple activities including ongoing living history re-enactments, weapons demonstration, music performances, children’s petting zoo, and a horse fun show. The Marsh Tacky horse races will begin around 2:30 pm. Admission is for the entire day.
What should I wear? This is a casual Lowcountry event during November daytime hours. Closed-toe shoes, preferably boots, are recommended for walking around the plantation fields.
What should I leave at home? Please do not bring coolers, umbrellas, pets (non-service animals), illegal substances or weapons, or food and beverage (except light snacks for small children).
Is this a child-friendly event? Of course! The Lowcountry Fair is designed to be a fun-filled day for families with a variety of educational and entertaining activities for all ages. There are child ticket prices for $10 (age 5-17), and for families with two or more children, there is a Family Ticket for $50 and a Military Family ticket (active duty only) for $40. Children should be carefully supervised by their parent or guardian.
What can I expect as a race spectator? Areas near the race track that are not dedicated to Patron and Sponsors will be first come-first serve. Chairs and blankets are permitted in the first rows with standing room behind. Please be respectful to guests needing handicap assistance. Do not let children go onto the race course.
Can I interact with the horses? The race course track and horse staging area are completely off limits to ticket holders. However, there will be a horse fun show and meet & greet area in addition to the races so there will be many opportunities to admire the horses from a distance. The horses are all privately-owned. Any attempt to startle a horse or violate these terms will result in removal.
Are ticket purchases tax-deductible since this is a charity event? The value of goods/services received for the event are equal to the ticket prices. Only Patron and Sponsor ticket purchases provide a tax-deductible gift beyond the ticket value.
