Course Description 
Did you know that the Spaniards declared Beaufort County home 39 years
before they arrived at Saint Augustine?  That the first capital of Florida,
and the first European capital city in North America, was on Parris Island?
This “Introduction to the Santa Elena Story” introduces “Americas first –
and lost – century”, the period after 1492 Columbus and before 1607
Jamestown, through the lens of Santa Elena.  This presentation is an
overview of the Santa Elena story and an outline of the more detailed Santa
Elena Scholars Program offered separately to OLLI members (winter 2020).Instructor Bio: CHRISTOPHER ALLEN Colonel (US Army Special Forces Retired)
served 34+ years in government service in uniform and as a Department of
Defense civilian. His undergraduate degree is from the U.S. Military Academy
at West Point, and National Security Masters degrees from the Naval War
College at Newport, Rhode Island and the National War College in Washington,
DC. Passholders. Others in attendance are asked to make a donation of their choice.
