Starting Family Research: A Class for Beginners
PROGRAM 104

Instructor:
Nancy Burke

*NOTE: This class will include a break for participants to have lunch at one of the area restaurants.

If you are just starting family research, this class is for you! This 4-hour workshop introduces the first-time family researcher to the fascinating field of genealogy, its unique nomenclature, and suggested research techniques. It may also be of value to researchers with limited experience who wish to refresh their skills. Participants will receive hand-outs to help guide you in your research.
Nancy Burke:Nancy Burke has completed a Master’s degree in Library Science and has worked in both public and school libraries. Having traveled the globe due to her father’s naval career, she married a career naval dental officer and those duty stations took them to Virginia, Hawaii and California. Nancy discovered genealogy after coming to Hilton Head in 1992 and now volunteers several days a week at the Heritage Library, where she is head librarian and assists patrons in their research and teaches classes.
